Key number, Start search with, End search with, End after find #, Sampling rate,
and Chain to tables.  Any of these six parameters may be modified at the time of
execution of any report or operation available on any of the Univers sub-menus.
The remaining items may also be modified if necessary, but only from within the
SelFil Maintenance module, which is accessed from the very first screen of the
Univers main menu.  Standard procedure is to create a library of pre-defined
SelFils with the data already entered for these lower parameters, and then only
modify whatever is needed in the first six parameters at run time.

The
Key number represents the primary item by which the database records
will be sorted.  The available key numbers that may be used to sort records are
shown below:

1.
P.P.N.
2.
Parcel ID
3.
Owners Name
4.
Routing Number
5.
Account Number
6.
Property Location
7.
Side / Card Number
8.
G.I.S. Plan Code

PPN stands for Permanent Parcel Number.  A value automatically assigned by
Univers to each parcel record sequentially as each record is created and added
to the database.  The first record created becomes PPN #1, the next PPN #2,
and so on.  PPN numbers may be exported; but not imported, changed or
modified in any way by the user.  They may only be deleted along with the entire
contents of a record, whenever that record is permanently deleted from the
database.

Suppose we wanted to look at all the records for a particular series of map
numbers, we would use
#2 - Parcel ID as the key number.  If we wanted to see
all of the records for properties owned by a particular person, we could choose
#3 Owners Name
and so on. For example, suppose we need to find all the
parcels from map number 102A-59-A1 to map number 102A-59-B66.  Lets
actually try this out by printing out some property record cards.

(Note: During this exercise, you must substitute a series of map numbers that
actually exist in your database in place of the numbers shown.)
